Fred trained as a chartered accountant before leaving the profession to follow a career in business. He has worked for several large organisations including Tarmac, Ross Group and the Simons Group. He gained a wide range of experience in strategic leadership, organisational development and human resources.
The development of people and organisations became and remain his main business interests.
In 1986 he formed A L Consulting, a consultancy practice that helps organisations to find innovative solutions to problems not readily resolved by conventional problem solving techniques.
Fred has extensive experience of working with organisations of all sectors and sizes, especially in the areas of business and strategic planning, leadership and organisational development. He helps organisations to refocus their vision and strategic thinking and change the ways in which people approach work.
Fred is an experienced facilitator, has been involved with management development programmes at Lancaster University Management School, Manchester Metropolitan University, St Martin’s College, and has also delivered a wide range of other management training programmes and courses.
He is a Chartered Manager, Certified Management Consultant and an Investors in People Specialist.
Fred is Deputy Chair of the Institute of Consulting. A former pilot, rally driver, mountaineer and caver, he now spends much of his leisure time teaching beekeeping.
